We are losing a large amount of time for the reason that you can't control your attention.

during the day, people nowadays have very many external distractions and tasks that take attention: repeated checking email, social networking, WhatsАpp, treatment of other people and so on.

it is difficult to keep the attention on one thing, focus on it constantly jumps, wanders from task, which we performed on the incoming message, call, noise outside the window, a new dress colleagues, thoughts about the upcoming evening. Also there are factors that distract you against your will.

for Example: if you were busy and got distracted at the wrong time, you will need time to return to what you were doing and to remember where you left off, unless, of course, by this time your idea didn't "run away" from you.

now many companies as a means of rapid communication are actively using WhatsApp, there are groups where we discuss business issues, sometimes the situation comes to the absurd: the employee be obliged to respond promptly during the day to messages in the group – and most of the time he spent on this "rapid response", at the end of the day he realizes that he just did not have time to perform their duties.

it Turns out that in total we spend much more time doing it, since to switch from one case to another requires time and attention.

What to do? How to get out of this trap?

the First thing to do is to limit the time for such "eaters of attention" as e-mail, social networks, instant messengers and more.

But that is not enough, because your attention starts to be distracted by something else. It has already been tested!

you Must train your attention and ability to concentrate on one thing.

And second, if you are disturbed by factors that you think do not depend on you (as in the examples above), think about how you can still influence, and you can influence it! For example: to learn to speak to your colleagues or family "no", "not now", propose to develop new rules for internal communication in the company and much more.

For concentration training, I recommend the following exercise to perform every day for 5-10 minutes (the time may be extended at your request).

Step 1. Sit up straight in a chair, not leaning against the back of the chair. Set the timer for the desired interval. Defocused eyes or close your eyes, whichever you prefer.

Step 2. Focus on your breathing. Observe the sensations you experience: how committed the inhale and exhale, as air enters the nose, then goes down and into the lungs and then in the reverse order is expiration. Do not try to control the breath, just observe. Do not attempt to analyze the process of breathing or other sensations, just observe the natural breathing rhythm.

Step 3. If you notice that your attention starts to wander in an attempt to focus on something else, return your attention back and re-focus on your breathing.

Concentration – this is a common skill that can and needs to be trained, if we want to be really productive. There are a large number of exercises, which if desired can be used. But I recommend it because it is one of the most effective.

Energy is the third component of productivity.

All people are divided into owls and larks.

If you lark you have more energy early in the morning. If you are a night owl – you have more energy late in the evening. I've always had trouble with that one, because I love early to bed and later to rise. Although, of course, "early" and "later" – concept very relative. But, watching their biological clock, empirically found that the maximum biological peak, that is the time when I have the maximum amount of energy, it is from 10.00 to 12.00 in the morning. It turns out that, most likely, I'm a morning person, but this is not important from the point of view of productivity, more important is that if you know your biological peaks, you can schedule the most important or most difficult for you at this time, then the likelihood that they will be done and done well, increases many times over.

But it is also important to understand that energy is the fuel that provides our productivity. Even if we supereconomy, will easily manage their time and attention to do what to do, and not procrastinating, but we will have a low energy level, most likely the results of our work will leave much to be desired. So, we need to be able to intelligently allocate its internal energy and be able to replenish.

in order to arrive at energetic condition and have stable performance, it is necessary to develop certain habits which will be maintained at the proper level of physical and emotional state. Such as sports, the alternation of work and rest, alternation of different activities, walks, fresh air, Hobbies, socializing with family and friends, energy practices, and much more. To make energy in different ways, the main thing that you should do these activities responsibly, do not forget about it and do not sacrifice this for other things, and, of course, that you should be fun.

One of my favorite techniques, which is beneficial to my emotional state, is daily to remember three occasion for which you feel grateful. If every day you will find something for which you can be thankful for, over time will develop the habit of noticing the positive in your reality, which in turn has a positive impact on your emotional background, mood and, of course, on your productivity.

Learning to manage your time, attention, energy, you can not only achieve your goals, but also become more happy because productivity and happiness go hand in hand, you will have the opportunity to do much more both for themselves and for other people.
