In a previous article I wrote about the importance, when working with the client to understand and discern, what kind of injuries we have to work with: the development of trauma or shock trauma. This largely depends on the choice of the  strategies  the work of the psychotherapist.

  • I continue talking about those traps in therapy that are inherent in trauma structures of development.  In this part of the article I will tell about injuries preverbal age  from conception to 3 months after birth.

    Show how they arise and the consequences in adult life of a person. Consider what challenges and deadlocks in the therapy might be faced by the therapist in the work. And, finally, describe possible steps of psychotherapy in the build stage of precontact.

  • What do we mean when we talk about trauma preverbal period.
  • I see this type of injury as the interruption in the normal course of child development. A series of traumatic events creates a level of stress that the child is unable on their own to recycle. As a result, it loses some important aspect of the structure of his personality.

    early trauma, -  the lack of a sense of basic security, the internal of the right to life, the contact with another person, to  your needs. Secure attachment –the Foundation  for the normal development of the child, for the realization of the inherent potential in it.

  • To preverbal period includes two time periods, related to different themes of development:
  • 1.First, earlier, -   from the moment of conception until 3 months after birth.

    the Main theme of the development is the sense of security of existence, the right to life, his place in this world, the right to be together with others.  

    2.The second time period – first  months after the birth to 1.5 years.

    Main theme – the right to feel, to Express and meet their needs, to Express them. The right to be loved and accepted such what it is.

    Consider the processes in the first time period, consisting of 3 stages:

    • conception to birth
    • Childbirth
    • After birth

    the Child in this period of time is not a viable entity that can exist separately. It is completely dependent on care and care of the mother or guardians. The child's safety and basic needs is a basis for further normal development of a child  and is created by the mother and her environment during this period.

    Through the hands of the mother the child  learns about what the world  is he safe or threat. He gets the first bodily imprints through touch, ambient noise, availability of timely food, heat, care, assistance, etc. the Nature of these interactions gives the child a bodily knowledge good or bad it is.

                a Little later, after the facial expression of the mother or guardians, tone of voice, the child learns: he is the joy or trouble, his presence is desirable or a hindrance to others, he is good or bad.     1. Schizoid withdrawal.
    2. Hysterical flight into contact.
  • Schizoid personality structure or Mental (by L. Marcher).
  • anything that threatens the existence of the child, causing him terror and forms a permanent state of anxiety. Apparently, this injury can occur in children vnutriutrobno. The reason may be the unwanted pregnancy mothers finding it in chronic stress or in dangerous situations, physical illness, depression, chemical  dependency, etc.

Man lives with a sense of loneliness, naselennosti, dislike of yourself, lack of place for him in this world.  the presence of other people causes a sense of danger. Anxiety is present permanently. People want to be in contact and at the same time are afraid of this level of existence. A lot of effort is spent on maintaining contact with people. Therefore a greater distance.

  •    Characterized by a strong emotional involvement in the process of interaction with people, a desire to be in contact. The worst – to be alone, to be abandoned.

     In the body a lot of energy, especially in the chest and in the head - a little. A great level of emotions interfere with good judgment and build in the mind of a realistic cause-and-effect relationships. Permanent separation anxiety does not allow to understand other requirements except the desire to be together with someone. Any act of a partner, aimed at increasing  distance, or so interpreted, causes an elevation of anxiety, pain and emotional outburst. Humans have no inner right to be together with others. The separation causes fear. That's life in fear of being alone.

    people with an injury of this period no sense of security, wherever they are. Almost always there is a certain level of background anxiety.
