— At the time, I completely changed the kind of activity, almost in the opposite direction. I worked as a civil engineer, for that profession important logical thinking spatial imagination. Contact at work, mostly, with equipment — perform work at the computer. I realized that my talents and interests lie in a different plane. For a psychologist it is very important the ability to empathize and establish an emotional connection with the person. As for the specialization — counseling in the job search, identifying skills and abilities, it is a topic very close to me. I myself experienced a "professional dead end".

— No, more of a metaphor. "Professional dead end" is a figurative name of the crisis. In General, the crisis translates as "great danger" but also as "a great opportunity". With the transition to a new stage, with the change of social roles the experience of this state is inevitable. Crises can be planned, both at work and in life in General: young professional becomes skilled, receives the status of mentor, and, eventually, retiring.

But there are moments when a person begins to feel that his expectations about his career, his place in life, face the reality and do not match with her. While dissatisfaction can be associated with the profession as a whole and, for example, with specific staff or wages. On "professional dead end" you can tell if a person experiences emotional exhaustion for three months, loses interest in work and its results, does not feel personal importance.

— is it possible in principle to dispense with the feelings about the importance of their work? And maybe in 17 years to choose a career once and for all?

— of Course, self-reflection is natural. People, having satisfied their basic needs, begins to think about who he is, what he is like as a professional, do it surrounding. And here everything is very individual: someone do at age 17 chooses the profession of a lifetime, and someone, going a long way in one area, good thinking, years 50 changes everything and becomes a successful professional in a completely different industry, working there until old age.

— So, to understand what will be the business of life at the age of 17 is still possible...

I'd say choose once for life work it is difficult, even unrealistic, not to improve skills — even a utopia. Those who think I can't wait to finish school and do not learn wrong. The trend of the labor market that will persist and grow, is the replacement cycle training-job training-work.

— What other qualities will be useful in the future in any job?

— Developed communication most quickly lead to success. If a person wants to achieve a result, then it is the ability to convey their thoughts and to involve colleagues in their projects. Now the labor market is paradoxical, chaotic, no universal recipes for success. Our reality cannot be described by a simple scheme: the more you work the more you make, demanded profession — a profitable operation. An excellent education does not guarantee rapid advancement through the ranks. At the forefront of creativity, because in any profession is seeing an explosion of complexity. Give the man the job, but how to do it, not explain, and as a result it meets completely. How he is able to navigate complex situations, and provides career growth. In this regard, by the way, increases the level of stress uncertainty weighs. Stress is a mental characteristic that is poorly amenable to correction. So, choosing a job, you need to think twice and weigh the many nuances.

— You work a lot with students, young people. In Your opinion, are they ready to accept such rules of the working world?

the Youth of the typical "heroic" thinking and flexibility. However, they expect the best without calculating the risks. Affect public opinion: everybody wants to be the big bosses and ride on steep machines and earn a lot. We gently work with this stereotype: it is important to build a picture of the real prospects for the next 10 years, to find true purpose. There is a comparison: life is like a ship that does not have a tailwind, if there is no target.

of Course, life itself can make adjustments to any plan, but we have a very good motivation. The negative trend is that too much influence young people ascribe to the environment: for example, can not find work because of lack of experience. To absolve themselves of responsibility is counterproductive. "What can I personally do in these circumstances?" "What is the simplest can I start today?" — such questions need to ask yourself constantly.

— And what questions you need to answer in order to choose a profession?

- first of all, you have to understand, in a plane located his abilities, inclinations that can be developed. Here the psychologist is very appropriate. After that select the field of interest: where you real thrill, drive and pleasure?

Definitely worth exploring promising labour market. If we talk about the Novosibirsk region, here embarked on the development of industrial cluster. Will demand engineers, technologists, skilled workers.

— So, it is profitable to choose a narrow technical specialty?

Any profession with the word "management" in the title has success with students and their parents. I regularly something surprising. Probably the last, that impressed me, is the book of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's "Flow. The psychology of optimal experience". It's about the same condition when you live life fully integrated in a continuous flow of activities that gives you pleasure.
